He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8
We are not called to be first. We are not called to stand out. We are not called to be the best. We are called to stand in the gap for those unable to speak. To stand for justice. And to be willing to step aside from our own human desires.
We must remember those who cannot stand up for themselves and are continuously and fighting against oppression and injustice. To walk humbly is to recognizing the inherent dignity and value of every human being, no matter race, gender, sexual orientation, age, cognitive abilities, socio-economic status… and we do this working to ensure that all people have the opportunity to live full and meaningful lives.
So I ask, what does the Lord ask of you at this time? Where to you need to stand up for Justice? Where do you need to love a little deeper? Where to you need to interact with others with a little more humility?
