What do the pages of your heart say?
You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
Matthew 12:34-35
When you surround yourself with critics, you become critical. When you surround yourself with those who desire wealth, you desire wealth. When you surround yourself with those who are generous, you become generous. Whatever you allow to fill your heart is eventually made visible through your mouth.
As you consider this truth from God’s word, can you see the importance of storing the word of God in your heart?
Prayer: Father, give us the discipline to fill our hearts with the pages of Scripture so the truth of your Word pours out from our hearts. Lord, give us a love for your Word so our words can be healing to the hurting, hope to the broken hearted, and point a lost world to Jesus.
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
